| Manager In Training |
Working at McDonald's is very complex..The training in different areas
is only as good as the management team in the store. Believe me it
varies. The culture in our store is very diverse. People vary in age,
sex, origin and dissabilities. However if you have disablities they do
discriminate against you in one way or another..I know it has happened
to me and seen it happen to others as well. Our store is 24 hour store
as I work primarily overnights with some various shifts. The dress code
is standard and strick but the management refuses to uphold penalties
with the kids not fully dressed in code. When I try to enforce the
codes I become the bully while other management members overstep me and
make me look stupid and mean. The pay rate and opportunities for
advancement is great if you are part of the owner/operator family. Then
The upper management kids get the best oppotunities. Then the people
that are willing to play the politics and the games within the store
get opportunities for advancement. Ones that don't play or not part of
upper management family or part of owner/operators familys are very
last to get opportunities for advancement...yep that puts me last out
of 11 people on the totem pole and only 2 people have been part of the
management team longer than myself...yet I am passed up and been there
for almost 2 years. My raise was a joke too.. The cost of food, gas,
bills in general, cost of living has gone up dramastically. So my raise
was in the past 2 years only 25 cents.. While others got 1 dollar or
more. Policies/Procedures are only inforced when owner/operator or
store manager is around. When I try to enforce them I am a know it
all..laughed at...sneard at...a bully. The contracts our
owner/operator had us sign is a joke in this store...even with them..I
am discriminated against cause of my disability in so many ways and
swearing or sexual putdowns is not allowed but the crew does it and
when I try to stop it .. They turn on me... Well this is the great
McDonald's environment and doesn't matter what owner/operator or
franchise you work with it happens...I have tried other places and just
dont understand why people have to be so cruel to others in the work
place...If they would use all the negative energy and time into doing
their jobs the stores would be in tip top shape and so clean. While
everthing would run like none of us have seen before...But I live in a
dream world trying to see the beauty and the best in everyone and
everything..So yeah it hurts and I just cant afford to quit cause the
job market out here just isn't hiring if you are not part of a family
or referred by a friend.
