I understand they filed for bankruptcy in order to reorganize. Magellan
was a managed care company that only held commercial insurance plans
until it bbought out Merit. Merit had all the medicaid business in the
state of PA until February 1997 when HealthChoices was mandated and the
Newtown office had Delaware County only. Eventually they ended up
with Chester, Bucks, and Montogomery Counties while Community Behavioral
Health received all pf Philadelphia County.
Employee morale fluctuated throughout the rapid changes. When working
in
a manged care environment you need to embrace change not fear it. It is
a very fast paced environment with many demands not only from the
patients calling in for services but from the corporation and county
office that wanted things done yesterday.
