The outlook for this company is grim. Although it has good vendor
communications and relations which help it drive merchandising impact
there seems to be no organization at the corporate level to implement
solid ideas. When programs are layed out for stores to accomplish the
stores are not given all the required imformation or supplies to carry
them out leaving many failed projects and wasted hours. The sprting
goods industry is a tough business with the emergence of discount
retail companies such a Wal-mart, K-mart, and Target brnging in lines
of sporting goods at cheaper prices. Customer traffic in all MC Sports
stores as decreased over the years and this leaves less money for
payroll. Employees must know how to do everything since typically there
is only 3 employees in the store at the same time and many times at
least one of them is on the phone or with a customer. I would say the
morale at the store I worked at was very low. If you are looking for a
company that has advancement opportunities which will also listen to
new ideas and is changing with the times bypass MC Sports, they will be
left in the dust.
