Lucent led the downturned economy in 2001. It laid off thousands of
employees, including me, as part of a restructuring plan to recover.
Before and during the restructuring, the employee morale was filled with
uncertainty and anxiety.
Since then, the group I worked for was sold to a competitor as Lucent
returned to its core products- telecom hardware.
I can only guess that Lucent is even more conservative in its business
practices and more attentive to employee performance and process. Back
to doing everything by the book!
