The good: Best team environment, interesting work, great people. I also
enjoy an easy commute and reasonable dress code.
The bad: As a Sales Specialist, I'm salaried, and scheduled 48-50 hours
a week. I don't spend the majority of my time doing non-exempt work and
if I divide my salary by the actual hours worked, my hourly wage is less
than what I made as a cashier.
The ugly: Human Resources policies. The recent change to vacation makes
business sense, but their way of explaining it was a three page story
problem. The HR policies skirt the gray area of FSLA on salaried
positions. An HR policy prohibited me from getting more than a 20% pay
increase when I went from a part-time hourly cashier to a full-time
salaried specialist, even though the position are completely different
and I have the education and experience required for the sales position.
If I'd been hired into the position from outside the company, my salary
would be $5000 more a year, but because of the internal promotion
policy, I'm getting screwed.
