Salary offers are minimal market values or lower. The sell of this company is
the benefits package which is entirely paid for by the company, is comprehensive
coverage with no referrals or hoops to jump through for services. Aetna PPO has
been the provider. Tuition reimbursement, 401K with immediate vestment, pension
plan after 5 years of service fully vested (but few employees last that long); 2
weeks vacation, minimal holidays, (expectation of always being at work
irregardless of illness). Bonuses can be very generous if the boss likes you-
15-35%. But not based upon performance, at times.
One employee was told she may have contagious illness and was told to come to
work, anyway after doctor's appointment and despite major snow storm. When HR
intervened, the VP was heard yelling and 'disgusted with lack of work ethic' of
employee. This same VP made entire group of subordinates work into evening on
150th year company christmas party. In this same group, had one diabetic
employee
who have episodes on the job due to lack of eating time to keep blood sugar
levels OK.
