The interview process is very lengthy. Many times, it requires three in-
person interviews along with a phone screening. Decisions to offer a
position to a potential interviewee may be as long as 2-3 months. One
interviews with HR staff, then supervisor, then manager, then director
and, possibly, VP.
Many positions are open to hire, however, they are often closed due to
changing priorities. These changes are often not communicated to HR staff
and people are left hanging. Recruiting agencies have dropped working
with Louis Dreyfus due to limited feedback and lack of hiring offers,
though, the position is considered open without activity.
One can go through the entire interviewing process and not receive
feedback at all or weeks/months later. The selection of candidates are
based upon overall grade point averages, degrees and specific expertise
in agricultural/energy trading experience, even if one is an accountant.
Little training is provided and new hires are expected to come up to
speed very quickly or are let go. There are also hires which are not
advertised, usually upper management and executives. They do sponsor
visas but prefer to hire citizens in their own country.
At the interview, prospective candidates are given messages that they
will have support and the ability to hire for their departments
(management), however, micromanagement is to the 9nth degree. Often
managers are ineffective and all decisions are top down.
