Job Title Workplace Survey
Major Gifts Officer Working here is a lot of fun. The environment always calls for creative solutions to problems. I work with a lot of different, high-profile people on a day-to-day basis which makes the organization a fabulous place for networking for possible future careers. I've learned to ask for money, which I think is key for a lot of other careers in the business world. Dress code is flexible. Most days we can be in business casual, meetings with donors require that we wear suits. It's easy to access most of the top management in the organization. There's great rapport between co-workers. It's a great place for women to work. Most of the top management are women. Hours can be long--my job requires me to work a lot of extra hours for events and the like. Opportunities for advancement are pretty limited. You'd have to hang around a long time (20 years) to get into a VP position.
