Quality System Technician Level II Leggett has what I consider a high rate of top executives and vice presidents that have worked their way up through the ranks. Even the present CEO began at Leggett as a truck driver back in the 50's. I find that an encouraging sign that perhaps there is a chance for me to move up in the ranks. One of the things that I appreciate about Leggett is that they have expanded into the International market, going to many countries to start factories, yet keeping the Amercian factories open. In addition, Leggett has a very diverse group of people working for them at their corporate offices with people from many different countries and cultures represented in the corporate offices. Considering that the corporate offices are located in Carthage, MO, a very unknow and rural setting, I find that impressive. One of my disappointments when I was hired was the fact that my hours were to be from 7 to 5, Monday through Friday. I would have liked to have the extra hour in the morning as do most of the corporate group. The R & D, Quality, and other like groups have an earlier start time than do the rest of the corporate group. The dress code here in the department is "office casual." However, the dress code is not really enforced and therefore some of the office come in jeans and tennis shoes, others always in slacks and polo shirts, and others in Khakis. I find the relaxed atmosphere to my liking, despite the fact that I would be willing to dress a bit more "UP" if the rest of the group did as well. Due to the fact that I am tri-lingual, speaking English, Portuguese and Spanish fluently, I am assigned to the brances in Mexico, Brazil and Spain. I enjoy the frequent travel, however, I have noticed that I earn a lower wage than persons in other companies, or departments, whom are required to travel, nationaly, and much less than those traveling internationaly. I have been told that the best way to improve your bottom line is to move from one department to another within Leggett. I have tried to do this, but cannot move without my boss' approval.
