The hiring process consisted of an initial meeting with the HR
representative, followed by a meeting with the head of the department and
the person who would be my immediate boss. I was called back a third time
to meet with the latter two people. I was then tested on my software
knowledge by an associate in the department.
The whole process was very smooth and straightforward for me. However,
all other recent hires were made to take a five-hour personality test,
which incorporated questions such as, "If you were standing on the ledge
of a building, would you A. step back B. get angry or C. be tempted to
jump". They also requested that this test be taken in one go, which isn't
necessarily a problem for the unemployed job seeker, but for those who
are looking to transition, this isn't so easily arranged. Then there is
the drug test as a final passage before one can show up for work the
first day. It is requested that this be done on your own time, rather
than on the first day.
