I attended a job fair and the attendants were able to apply for various
jobs at different companies beforehand. You would browse a database of
companies online and then submit your resume. The companies then had
the option of selecting to interview on you site at the job fair.
Approximately three weeks after I submitted my resume, I was contacted
via e-mail that I was chosen for an exploratory interview. Which meant
I wasn't interviewing for a specific position but rather they wanted to
see if I would be a viable candidate. The interview at the conference
was approximately 45-50 minutes long and I meet with someone from
marketing. It was the standard interview questions, such as "tell me
about yourself". I was asked what areas I needed to improve upon, to
tell about a project I was proud of.
Approximately two weeks after the interview I received another e-mail
inviting me to come on-site to interview. You arrive the night before
and you meet your host for dinner. Your host is a resource person.
This is someone who you can ask a lot questions about the company and
the job and they have no bearing on your selection. The next morning
you meet another resource person for breakfast. After breakfast you
begin your interviews. You interview with three marketing managers, of
various ranks, before lunch with each interview lasting 45 minutes. The
interviews are behavioral questions. You are asked to tell about a time
you worked with a difficult person and what you did. You are also asked
to tell about a time that you had a lot of projects due and how did you
manage the process. You are also asked to tell about a time that you
helped another person with their project. There were no technical
questions at all, just all behavioral. You may hear the same question
several times throughout the day. Each person is trying to decipher
something different from your answers. One person may be trying to
ascertain your teamwork skills while another may be looking at your
leadership ability.
Lunch is with your third resource person and then you have two more
interviews that afternoon. After the final interview you meet your
initial host and they give you a tour of the town and take you to look
at apartments or house in the areas. Then you are done with the whole
interview process.
Also, note that when you are interviewing they have several other people
interviewing as well. They rotate all the candidates around to each
interviewer. You may bump into other candidates while during the rounds.
