I started out low on the salary scale, and they knew I was underpaid for
my
experience level. I took the pay cut because it is very difficult to
get into
the HR field without any real experience. I was in a position to be
able to
take
a pay cut...one step back for two steps forward. It has paid off. My
background
was largely employee benefits, not employment law. Consider your
situation and
be realistic about an appropriate salary for your experience and
skills. There
are websites and surveys you can research for job descriptions and salary
information.
For us, exempt employees receive year-end bonuses based on hours worked
and
major projects. The company provides an ESOP match to our 401(k),
tuition
reimbursement, two weeks of personal leave, earned sick leave, and a
full range
of benefits: medical, dental, life, supp life, long and short term
disability,
flex spending, section 529, 401(k), ESOP, and soon will offer long term
care.
It's a well-rounded package
