My interview wasn't really an interview. I think my immediate
supervisor (Benefits Mgr) and his boss (HR Director) liked my resume and
were just hoping I was a decent individual. I had two interviews
lasting all of 15 minutes with hardly any questions, which is very
unusual. Be prepared for anything and ask your own questions anyway.
The interview is a determinant of whether the job is a good match for
you as well! One odd thing, I was told I was too pretty to work there.
For some, that may raise a yellow flag, it was inappropriate. However,
I did not sense anything negative from the comment or feel threatened in
any way. I think it's important for women to think through situations
like that. I am not belittling the importance, but I will say follow
your instincts and choose your fights carefully. Two years later, I am
the HR manager, I am reviewing the interview process. What questions
are they asking? Do you know what questions can't be asked? Are you
asking what you want to know about the company, it's functions, it's
culture?
