Dress code is anything goes
Very diverse ethnically across departments and in all areas of the
company
Very loose with labour and employment standards - often require
salaried
employees to work 10-12+ hour days without renumeration - apparently
its "part of the job" - not very flexible for those with children
Use it or lose it approach to vacation time - not well tracked - which
allows some employees to take advantage
Appication of company rules and regualtions varies widely by manager -
as does application of employment standards
Performance reviews unproductive and ill managed - only once annually
and generally by someone with no idea how to deliver one professionally.
Not a whole lot of supervision which allow some team members to take
advantage of the company, particularly while travelling - inviting
friends and family on business trips, taking advantage of expenses etc
Training is not great in many departments
High staff turnover rampant as wages are very low - employees often use
the company as a starter postion to get into the job market and then
get
out. Does give the few that hang in there the opportunity for
advancement - often by necessity/ease for manager rather than
qualifications or suitability - results in many weak managers and
supervisors
