IBM was wonderful in allowing most employees to work from home. I worked
from home when I started until I was part of a workforce reduction in
2002. IBM gave money to purchase office equipment and then allowed for
monthly re-imbursement of such items as office supplies and high speed
connection and telephone/fax lines. They claim to be very much for the
work/home balance but tend to overwork their employees not by forcing
the work on them, but by the treat of layoffs. IBM is the best I have
ever seen with workforce diversity and provides tons of information for
employees to understand their position on this topic. The opportunites
for advancement are available but not as readily available as I have
seen at other companies. They do provide training both internally and
from external companies
