| Manufacturing Engineer (Manufacturing Engineering Manager) |
A week after the initial interview, we (CEO and I) brokered a deal, with
me
taking a $20K cut in pay, having a provision that I be given quite a
substantial
raise after three (3) months of employment. All was agreed and set
forth in a
letter. According to several un-named sources at the company; my pay
was the
second highest at the company, but I believe that conversation is
somewhat
suspect. However; my starting pay was $65K and my ending pay was ~$85K
(back to
the salary I was making prior to accepting this position). They provide
medical
(fully paid for the employee), the same with dental. They have a 401K,
such as
it was. They match only what and when they wish, nothing in writing. No
signing
bonus. The annual bonus was laughable ($200 one year, $400 the next)
and not
based on anything except making it through a year. No stock options,
S-corporation, not public. Vacation was one (1) week I believe, perhaps
two
(2),
but during closures for Thanksgiving, Christmas and July 4th holidays,
vacation
time was to be used mandatorily for days not specifically named as part
of the
holiday, even if one was a salaried (exempt or non-exempt) employee.
They
claimed to reimburse for schooling pertaining to your position. I
applied for
said reimbursement for the combined Masters / PhD degree program. After
over a
year of waiting the request was denied, out of hand, no conversation, no
exploration of net worth to company or personal benefit to their
employee. Was
told it did not pertain to my position. The program was for Engineering
Management. How does that not pertain? Currently the present CEO
(daughter of
owner/s) is obtaining her MBA through this program. The only perk I had
was
this
position allowed me to be near my minor child more (could leave to pick
him up
from daycare at ~3:00), but I still put in approximately 45 hours weekly.
