| Engineering Manager, QA Manager, Manufacturing Engineer (choice of these) |
Very loose and informal, I met none of my soon-to-be co-workers, other
managers or staff personnel (Which I did not, at the time, think odd).
The company found my resume on Monster.com and were very excited that I
only lived a few short blocks away from their facility. I was currently
employed in a position as the VP of Manufacturing for a job-shop
facility located 20 miles south of my residence, but was and am always
looking to improve my situation (who isnt?), so I agreed to interview
with them. I was contacted via e-mail. I called their HR person to
ascertain what position they sought to fill. It was explained that they
had several openings (Engineering Manager, QA Manager, Manufacturing
Engineer) and that I more than qualified for any of the offerings. I
told her I was free later in the week, but she was insistent that I
interview asap (within the hour) as the CEO was soon off on a trip. I
agreed. I met with HR and only the most general of questions were
asked, all of which were answered on my resume. Basically if they like
your look and feel and you have the background you are in. After a
company review, I decided that they needed a Manufacturing Engineer more
than a QA Manager (since they had one, albeit not a very adept one), and
the company also had an Engineering Manager (with, as I found, failing
health, he went into the hospital the day I started work, and I am sorry
to say he passed away after I left their employ) To recap; I talked to
the HR person and the CEO, two (2) different interviews (one initial and
one intake), money was the biggest area of concern for both of my
interviewers.
