Infosys is a company which is driven by continuous improvement of its
employees. The company started in a very humble manner way back in 1983
and grew to become the most respected company in India.
All new joinees to the company went through a technical training
spanning different technologies for a period of three months. The
quality of faculty and kind of training imparted strong conceptual
understanding of application software and made new joinees proficient
enough to take up new challenges in learning any technology.
The corporate culture was one which cultivated openness and free
exchange of ideas. The employees possessed very good attittude. People
were very helpful in the company. This made the learning process on the
job a very productive and enjoyable one.
The working hours varied depending on the phase of the project. There
can be 40 hr weeks and there can be 100hr weeks. It will average around
75hrs over a period of time.
The dress code was smart casuals on most of the days. The opportunities
for advancement and shouldering of more responsibility was driven by the
individuals ability. People could move from team memeber to team leader
in anywhere between 2-3 years. Can shoulder project management/account
management responsibilities in 5-6 yrs of joining the company.
It is a system which rewards meritocracy. The element of politics was
very less at least in the initial levels.
