Corporate Culture - There is a large difference between stated culture
and at-work in-progress culture. The stated culture is an intention
which is noble and idealistic, Unfortunately the middle management is a
stale layer, inept of implementing such a culture. At infosys the motto
is, "If it cannot be practiced, then lets make it the catchphrase of
corporate culture". Politics often bordering on illegal is rampant.
Very Dilbertesque.
Diversity - Moderate-low diversity- If you look at the distribution of
people from various countries, 90% will be indian. The remaining 10% is
divided between american, chinese, australian, french etc.
Dress Code- Since it is primarily an Offshoring firm, the dress code
depends on the client.
Hours- Your life belongs to infosys, No one which even think twice
about calling you on your personal number at 12:00 midnight for a very
trivial issue. You are measured by the number of hours put in, not by
the quality of the work. You should check with your boss before you
plan to keep a pet/marry/have a child etc. Well, that may sound like an
exaggeration but, I have learnt it the hard way.
Opportunities for advancement- Plenty, this is unlike other feedback I
have given. Plenty is the word, provided you can "keep everyone happy"/
Play it the "politics" way, it will work. Whether you produce quality
work or not is not the point, you should be able to play politics. This
is all levels. Worst at the top, and impossible to tolerate at the
bottom.
