| Project Manager |
A strong emphasis on "Being Good". A highly motivated work-force - at
least for 4 months in a year you will feel like you are in a war-like
situation. Mostly satisfied people with few complaints here and there.
Highly independent delegation of work. Infosys is divided into PU on
geographical lines, PU are divided into Accounts for various clients,
Each acount is divided into Projects and you can sense that every
project leader/manager will have his own domain and work culture to
define. Growth is performance based and Performance is respected deeply
and if you are good performer nothing can stop you in Infosys from
rising high though sometimes bad performers also get through. The
culture is normally friendly though lateral entries face initial
problems because of the highly demanding culture in a proud and
aggressive work force. People almost ignore their personal lives or
their personal lives have strong bonds with Professional lives. One good
aspect though is that you can get almost any geographical placement in
Infosys citing personal issues. The senior a manager in Infosys, the
more friendly you can expect him to be.
Diversity
---------
It is slowing and surely converting itself into a diverse work-force.
There is a careful and deliberate emphasis to mix people and you will
see people from one geographical location placed at another very
frequently.
Hours
------
Long hours depending on location start of the day varies. You can easily
expect working 10-12 hours a day on an average because of peer pressure
in India. At client locations normally it is 8-9 hours a day.
Dress Code
----------
In Infosys Offices, Monday and Tuesday fully formal, WEdnesday and
Thursday semi-formal and Friday business casual. At client location, as
per client specification.
Opportunities For Advancement
-----------------------------
Lots probably best in corporate world. People are placed onsite
definietly within 1-3 years which opens up lots of opportunity for
learning and career advancement.
