The corporate culture at IMS is in flux since November of 2000 when
David Thomas became our CEO - now Chairman. IMS has been re-inventing
our business from being a data and product provider to Pharma to
becoming a Service company with an emphasis on consulting and solutions.
The shift has been interesting and we have had many senior individuals
join our firm from IBM, and major consulting firms around the globe.
The greatest challenge for the company is the shift from a majority of
technical individuals to having 55% customer facing staff in 2003. This
change in emphasis was made possible by our ability to leverage our
technical capabilities and automate many manual processes.
Dress code is business casual - unless interacting clients when more
formal business dress is expected.
Diversity has grown significantly in the last few years, in part due to
our relationship with Cognizant Technology a company in which we had a
significant share until 2003. We still bring their consulting staff
into our organization and often offer them full time positions, if there
is a skill and culture fit. The organization participates in the Inroads
program which brings in minority students during their college career.
IMS is in the process of creating curriculum offerings for many of our
groups, Sales, Consulting, Service and Marketing are slated for
introduction during 2004. The Technical side of the organization has
worked on creating global infrastructure and norms through Project
JetStream which is used to identify and vet new development projects.
This process is being rolled into our Marketing group in 2004.
There is a lot of change, but employees are pleased with our new and
enthusiastic senior staff who have moved our business from one that was
in danger of becoming a commodity, to one that is seen by our customers
as adding value to their business.
