Working for this company is a great learning experience. It is a small
company, recently acquired by another larger web hosting company. Though
I do not wish to pursue further experience in the technical industry,
this position does present some challanges and unique oppurtunities for
growth.
Hostcentric is however, a company that is in decline. It is a company
that had spawned from the internet boom in the late 90's, but like
most .com's and web hosting companies, has fallen on hard times. The
employees and management staff acknowledge it will only be a matter of
time before the company will need to close its doors for good, as it has
consistantly failed to turn a profit.
The hours are the standard 40 hours per week with an hourly wage of
$12.00 per hour (3 month probabtion period with a $10.00 wage). Once
your probation period has expired, you are pretty much
considered 'experienced' and bumped up to gold technician. As a gold
technician you are expected to be an experience resource at server
administration and you are speaking with VIP clients (clients that pay
in excess of $100 - $1,000 per month).
Very little oppurtunities for advancement due to small size of the
organization and the fact that Hostcentric will most likely be one with
Interland within the next few months.
