I worked at Hoover's Online for about six years. Under the new
President Jeff Tarr and new ownership by Dun and Bradstreet, the
mission of the company is very clear. Job goals are clear, benefits are
great. The company dress is casual, attitude overall laid back, work
hours not rigid, but don't let that fool you: employees at Hoover's get
a *lot* of work done during their work hours. Goals are clearly defined
set high, and employees are expected to meet them. Management styles at
this company differ *greatly* - while I had a terrific supervisor,
which made my job wonderful, some supervisors were either very rigid or
underqualified. Some other things of note - free bagels on Friday!
While I found Hoover's a great place to work, there has certainly been
some backlash and disgruntlement since the company was bought out. It
does have a more "corporate culture" feel to it, some will say.
