HS is politically conservative but they try to have a liberal and
relaxed work atmosphere. Dress code is fairly casual with strict
limits against denin of all types. No bare feet or sandals here. All
of the attorneys "dress" for the office. Some men wear casual dress
shirts but no pullover shirts allowed and one was sent home to change.
The firm does have some diversity at the lower end of the employment
chain. While there are a few female attorneys, they don't seem to last
very long and there are no female partners. Hours are flexible.
Overtime is discouraged and some desks are informed that it is not
necessary and consequently, will not be paid. While I worked there,
overtime was a necessity and we were required to work enough to "get
the job done." Burnout was common and staff turnover was high. I
believe that has changed. There are some advancement opportunities.
Some file clerks have worked up to higher level support staff
positions.
