Interview process dependent upon business unit. In larger units HR is
charge of selection and interview process. In smaller units hiring
managers do telephone interviews, etc to narrow the field. Most jobs
have only one round of interviews. If there are 2 competitive
candidates, a second round may occur. There is drug testing.
Interviewers will include the hiring manager, hr generalist, possibly
the hiring managers leader, hiring manager peers, or peers for the job.
Questions usually include: how will this job progrese your career, if
you had the job what are the top 2 things you would do and why, what are
the experiences and knowledge you would bring to bear, why did you leave
or are leaving your current employer, long term career aspirations. It
is not uncommon to have more time in the interview spent on selling the
candidate on the job than in questioning the candidate. Don't be
surprised if they seem very interested in you but take forever to make
an offer. During times of salary freeze and/or hiring freezes, it takes
an act of congress to approval to hire someone regardless of the fit.
