The dress code is fairly relaxed. You can wear business casual with
khakis/polo and you can wear jeans on Fridays. The culture is very
bureaucratic and political. My feelings were that it was very
hierarchical and you didn't want to go around the chain of command. It
was sort of an older culture so it was tough for young people like me
to really fit in, as everyone had been there for 20-30 years, had a
family and certainly wasn't interested in going out for drinks after
work. I also felt that people didn't really feel the need to work any
harder than they absolutely had to and wouldn't go out of the way to
help others. It seemed that managers tended to purposely fill their
days with meetings so that it took up all of their time. I attended
some and I felt they were excessive. It is sort of an old boys network
there, and some things that would be construed as sexual harrassment at
another firm seemed commonplace at Honeywell. Basically, it was a very
stale environment. They pushed Six-Sigma but it seemed to be something
that they wanted everyone to attain to meet a quota, rather than
providing actual value to the organization.
