| Special Services Associate |
The Home Depot overall is a great company to work for. They have a
competitive hourly pay, good employee benefits, opportunity for
advancement and monetary bonuses. The Home Depot is very diverse in
whom they hire. It is nice to work for an employer like that. The
hours are okay. Special service associates (such as myself) usually
work days but other full time employees do not get the best shifts.
Expect work work (as a regular full time employee) until midnight or
later. The Home Depot does not accept full time employees that do not
have COMPLETE open availability - so, do not apply for full time if you
have another job. In addition, even circumstances such as divorced
employees who see their children a couple days a week cannot request off
the same two days each week. The Home Depot does not allow it. Part
time employees hardly get any hours. Most look at 0-15 hours/week...
yes, they get no hours some weeks. The dress code is fine. Jeans and a
collared shirt is all they request. Sneakers are fine as well as hats
w/o logos. There is opportunity for advancement although The Home Depot
seems to overlook those employees who actually deserve the advancement &
pick people who may not be able to handle the job completely. If you do
not succeed in your new position in several weeks, they will make you
step down or quit. The company, as a whole has some good ideas but like
other retail stores, lacks experienced & educated people in their
management positions.
