Although this company is "doing well" (?), it has a very high turn over
of store management, which include store managers, assistant/HR managers
and department supervisors. The store and assistant/HR manager are
salaried and work 65 to 80 hours per week on an average, and many 6 days
per week. Although they are attempting to be the employer of choice, it
isn't happening because of the lack of quality of life. The diversity is
good with all employees overall in a store. Advancement opportunities go
to those who definitely fit the click, the look and the younger age. As
it is right now, a great performance will not get you promoted. The way
in which they speak to you is not good. The criticism is not
constructive, they do yell at managers (this includes field managers),
and overall many of them have very poor, or no, people skills. There are
no means of talking to anyone outside the store level about the
unfairness because they will focus in on you and find the means to
terminate you. The "good ole boy" click is alive and strong (it's also
very young), and you get ahead and promoted by being in this group.
