The culture is cooperative and relatively informal, although it is evolving more towards a formal corporate culture. As its parent company, Harcourt General, was bought a year or so ago by Thomsom/Reed, its hard to say what it's like now. Hours are standard publishing hours: 9 to 5, with editors taking work home with them on nights/weekends. Advancement opportunities are on a project by project basis, but overall seemed pretty good.
