I was introduced to Holder Construction through a career fair at Clemson
University. It was there that I met Doug Hunter, Vice President of
Preconstruction Services. I spoke with Doug for a few minutes and
handed him a resume. A few days later I was contacted for a follow up
interview that would take place again at Clemson University. Once
again, I spoke with Dough Hunter for about an hour. Doug spoke at
length about what Holder Construction was about and how the company was
different from other commercial contractors. He also asked me questions
about my construction experience, educational background, and goals.
The one question I remember the most is, "What three things are you most
proud of in your life?". To this day I don't remember what my answers
were, but they must have been good because I was asked to come to the
corporate office for a final round of interviews. I interviewed with 4
different people on the final round. Each person asked basically the
same questions - goals, construction background, where I wanted to be in
5,10,20 years. I was contacted 3 days after the final interview and
offered a job with a starting salary of $43,000.
