The company provided me with a "work at home environment." This
included a computer, fax-copier, telephone line, cellular, and a
beeper. I enjoyed this environment because it allowed alot less stress
that normally accompanies a position. There was a downside though,
there was little communication from the office to the home and because
of this the only things that were heard from the "night shift" were
when things went wrong. There was nothing there about when things went
right which is what happened most of the time. The position itself
entailed that I received telephone call from customer sites concerning
a specific product which monitored fetal heart tones from nurses and
doctors at hospitals, offices, or from their residences. As far as
diversity was concerned... there was quite a bit of diversity at the
office concerning race, religion, and lifestyle choices although most
tended to be white (males & females.) The dress code for me at home
though was what I wanted to wear for comfort which is quite an
advantage over their dress pants and shirts required at the office.
There was little room for advancement and I had tried to apply for
other positions with the company but to little effect. As for the
company in general they were good employers and I enjoyed the position
working for them but like all companies the bottom line is the bottom
line and sorry Charlie your position has been eliminated. It had more
to do with budgetary concerns that anything else as seven more people
were also let go at the same time.
