This was a company facing heavy competition, declining membership &
reorganization under a new CEO. The entire culture changed. It was like
poison was piped into the ventilation system. Management expected
travel across the state for overnights with 24 hour notice. The
employees lost what was considered to be a civilized work place. Human
Resource policies were ignored by cut throat management. Any possible
avenue to impact on the quality of life was employed. For example set
up meetings across the state with 24 hours notice. Make reimbursement
of expenses difficult- reports would "get lost" & have to be
resubmitted thus delaying reimbursement for 6 weeks. Give different
work assignments to employees in the same job- making some people
travel with overnights away from home while others are not required to
make the sacrifices. Making one group of the people all the same job
description & pay grade do three different job descriptions while
protecting the others from multitasking. Threaten people with a
negative performance review if they went to Human Resources to report
the violations & employee treatment with prejudice.
