Hewitt Associate's is a very different place now from the one that
rightly earned such a high reputation as being one of the best places to
work in America. In the last 9 months I have had 3 different managers. I
had one recent manager who never had a unit meeting the entire year.
Internally, we reorganize, restructure and re-name ourselves frequently,
in ways that often make no sense to the associates involved.
Management is extremely inconsistent. Our practice leader seems to make
decisions based solely on how he good he can make himself look to upper
management, rather than what would be good for the firm. If he can cut
something out of our budget, even if it ultimately costs the firm more
by passing it to another area, he will do so. The level of service and
cooperation we are allowed give to others in the firm are based on an
ever changing and often confusing view of who is the most influential
client revenue generating group at the time.
For an HR firm, the practices it follows are rather surprising. During
the last pay cycle, managers in our area were told not to give any one a
higher than average rating, no matter how well an associate may have
performed. (Needless to say, this affected raises, not to mention
morale.)
On the plus side, Hewitt still offers free meals. Also, depending on
where you work, your co-workers can be great people. Some areas allow a
great deal of flexibility in work schedules. Lastly, the new diversity
leader seems to be doing some wonderful work both outside and within the
firm.
