Technical Associate Working at the Hay Group was extremely demoralizing. You are blamed for not billing your hours when the senior consultants/leaders aren't doing their job in bringing in projects for you to work on in the first place. You are only provided opportunities for advancement if you are liked by senior management, and if you are in the "right" practice to begin with--Rewards! I do, however, have a lot of respect with the people I worked with in the McBer part of the company, especially those in Boston. They are the most intelligent and friendly group of people I've ever worked with. They truly understand the meaning of leadership and are dedicated to mentoring. The office where I worked was extremely cold. Everyone seemed to hide in their offices and did not socialize much besides to talk about projects. I was blatantly lied to during the interview process, where I was told you needed a MBA to get to the associate consultant position, which was completely untrue. I was also told how great the company was and how committed they are to mentoring...which never happened. I would not recommend working for this company.
