Store Manager Working as a Store Manager for Hancock Fabrics was hard. You must be willing to work 50-60 hours per week for little pay, other companies start you out as Assistant for what a experienced Store Manager makes. The payroll hours are very strict and must be kept to a tight budget. The dress code was fine, casual business dress with tennis shoes. Doing inventory at other stores was a pain, you had to figure out who was going to cover your store the 2 days you were away. The store atmosphere was what you made it. The DM vistits once a month or so depending on the store location. The new POS registers they have are a joke along with the Help Desk who supposedly helps you through the problem. The opportunities for advancement are there if you want them. I had a friend at Corporate was making less than I was and she had been there longer!
