I have been in the Service Engineering area as well as the Pratt merger
Joint Strike Fighter area of Engine Systems. I am currently in
International Sourcing. Svc. Eng. was great! Best job of my life. It
was like a family in that group. People looked out for each other,
actually respected each other and did their share of their work. In
Eng. Sys., it was like being at Pratt & Whitney (my previous employer).
No respect for employees, requiring OT (unpaid), if you couldn't do OT,
you were treated like a 2nd class citizen and belittled and penalized
for not doing the extra hours, forcing people to do the work of 3 or 4
others even though there was budget to hire more, the were too cheap to
do it. Int'l. Sourcing is almost like Svc. Eng. Dress code is business
casual/casual. Not much opportunity for advacement in the Svc. Eng. or
Int'l. Sourcing but there was in Eng. Sys. I am now part time (just
back from maternity leave) and the new group is very good about my hours
and flexible schedule. I don't believe I would have been able to do
this in Eng. Sys.
