Working at Great Lakes is satisfying, since a lot is left to your own
initiative, provided your activities are contributing to the overall
objectives of the company. The activities revolve around helping
customers use the Great Lakes products, in this case polymer additives,
by offering real expertise. Key is clearly to learn from the customers
about their application detail, while customers are learning from us.
Customer visits include travelling all over Europe with sales
colleagues,who benefit from our expertise in the process. Personal
responsibility for projects with customers is key in the reward system.
Limited paperwork, but detailed reports are needed to judge
effectiveness. Hours, as much as needed, but not over 60 hours/week.
Ample vacation at 38 days/yr. Dress code casual, unless customers are to
be visited. International environment, 4 languages spoken: French,
German, Dutch(Flemish) and English.
