The atmosphere at the Girl Scouts of the USA was a professional
environement. As An Auditor, I got to review all area of the Girl Scout
organization performing financial and operational audits. The Internal
Audit Department was also assigned intermim and year end audit programs
generated by GSUSA's Public Accountants which saved the organization
money as a result of shortened audit worked being done by the External
Auditors. The Girl Scouts stressed diversity. The business hours were
routine business hours withouthardly any overtime hours. The dress code
then for professinals were suit or jacket and tie, now I understnad the
dress code at the Girl Scouts is business casual. Yes there were
advancement opportunities at the Girl Scouts.Towards the mid ninties,
the Girl Scouts organization stress a team work environment. The Girl
Scout orgainzation has a very large resale inventory consisting of over
4,000 items, eg uniforms and handbooks. I actually began work at the
Girl Scouts during 1981, but the approximate dates of employment go back
to only 1990 on your drop down menu. The entire Internal Audit
Department consisting of a staff of three was outsourced during January
1999 to a Public Accounting firm.
