The Bank of SA is very conservative in nature, as most of its employees
are University educated. As one of the major banks in the state it is a
major employer, therefore potential candidates are highly polished and
come from the higher social, educational and economic levels.
The diversity of its workforce is definitely multicultural, but with a
majority being Australian born. It's culture in regards to effort and
hard work is evident in its employees as most will work overtime. This
is seen as a norm in Banking as most University educated employees want
to climb the corporate ladder. 40+ hrs/week is not uncommon.
Dress code is very conservative but tasteful. Men will wear the latest
styles and fashions in single breasted suits ie: European cut and style,
while women are trendy but professional.
Opportunities for advancement are few, but this deters the hardest
working members into getting on the upper rung of management.
It is seen as normal to extend one's education past Honours and even
into Masters degrees, especially in Commerce/Banking/MBA. Most of this
education is done via distance learning, which the Bank favours.
