Job Title Interview Survey
Production Supervisor I will try to be as detailed as possible. First of all the only reason Human Resources called me is because my father knows a person in the upper management. First you would have to apply online and then they should call you if they are interested, but because of my network in the company, they called me up first and then I applied online. To be able to start the interview process you have to have 2 things first of all ( know someone on the inside that recomeds you or have a Great Resume and experience ). I will number all the major steps in the selection process. #1 Take an online test: Here they just ask questions about your personality, to check if you have the team work spirit, and with what level of safety are you willing to work. You should answer questions that demonstrate team work yet ssafety. #2 I had to do a play role over the phone with ona of the human resource representatives: First of all, here they give you a package with information about a ficticious company in which you pretend to be a production supervisor in charge of like 20 or 30 people. There are three Parts in the telephone Play role, In the first part I had to pretend that I was talking with an angry worker and they wanted to see how I handle it. In the second part I had to pretend to talk with one of the Labor Union representatives, and she was also upset and they wanted to see how I dealt with her. In the third part I had to listen to a couple messages from my superiors and I had to take some actions after listenings to them. #3 If you passed the telephone role plays, they called you up to set up a face to face interview. This consists of 3 parts. First part you have to give a 5 minute presentation about information they give you there. You have like 10 minutes to prepare it and you have to pretend that you are giving it to the people that work under you. The presentaion os about safety also. The second part is all questioning. They want you to answer questions with the Acronym "STAR" which means (S- Situation, T- task, A- Action and R- result). For example they asked me. Tell me about a time you had to work with people that are from different ethnicity? You would have to answer like this: S- I was in College and I had to do a project with people from other countries, T- we had to do a project on blockbuster video, A- I treated everyone with repect and avoided racism comments, and R- we all got along very well. Here they are just going to give you situiations and ask you how would you react or simple ask you questions. Don't worry this step was the easiest, the questions are very simple and are the usual ones they ask you in any other company. Another example was, What is your biggest acomplishment? How would you describe yourself? Tell me about yourself? Tell me about a time you disagreed with your supervisor? What type of people do you find it difficult to work with? How important is safety for you? Tell me about a difficult task you had to do, how did you handle it? The last part of the interview process and the most difficult for me was the Production Schedule. They give you ALOT of information and 45 minutes to complete this task. Here you are going to have to do a Production Schedule, it is likely that you are not going to finish but what they want to see here is the way your brain works. That is what the recruiter told me aftewards, because I freaked out because I could not put in some projects into the time frame. But He told me that they just want to see hoy you arrange things and how my brains works. This part is difficult because there are alot of constrains, for example (You need to leave 1 day a week for maintanence and stop production, This person cannot work on this days, you have to leave tuesdays morniungs for meeting, on may the 23 you have to go to another meeting..... and so on.... they give you so many things like this... that by the time you are going to plan the production schedule .. you already forgot all the things you have to do. If you pass this part, they are going to place you in a Pool of qualified candidates, in which thank God I am in. And when a position opens up they will call you up. But I have been told that this can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. So even after they have accepted you, you better find something else in the meantime they call you up, because it can take long. Right now I have been told by some friends in GM that they are having some severe Financial problems.. and they have put all hiring on FREEZE. LOL so I guess it will take a little longer for the to call me up and make me a job offer. For now I have been accepted in HERTZ as a Manager Trainee, hopefully they will call to offer me the job soon. Hope this helps........ Good luck to everyone..... God Bless
