Packages vary WIDELY! HINT: Get the highest base salary you can on your way in.
Raises are pathetic; "bonus targets" in most years are just that - targets that
are never fully paid out! I was there for 6+ years and hardly ever got my total
target bonus. There was opportunity for variable compensation on top of base and
bonus, but they've done away with paying for consulting leads that turn into
booked business. Only way I'm aware of for added comp is to refer a friend that
gets hired.
Vacation, sick time, etc is rolled into PTO. There is a certain # of days you
get depending on length of service. BUT there is no way to track vacation, sick
time, etc. And nobody really cares. So essentially you can be "out" and nobody
will know/care as long as you do you work. Holidays - generally 9/year. Rolled
into the PTO #.
Stock options are meager. Dolled out by those managers that review you yearly;
so, as you can imagine, they go to the star performers and not you! Gotta retain
those stars.
Home office: be sure to get your DSL/Cable Modem, cell phone bill and 2
work-at-home phone lines paid for. If you don't ask you don't get! I know of
several analysts who get only 1 phone line and many others who get 2. Get 2 is my
advice!
My base salary was on the high side. Generally a 20% bonus target. BUT salaries
for the RVP job vary widely - some analysts earn in the 80's and others all the
way up to 200+. Althought there are grades and bands, get the highest base you
can talk them into! Or the analyst that gets hired after you will be making
10-20K more than you. If you're an analyst there for a long time, wind up on the
low end of the scale.
