Very laid back, maybe too much so. Casual dress, flexible hours. CD
based training encouraged, which was very beneficial. Corporate office
didn't seem to really have any clue about the day-to-day at the stores.
Predominately "white male" environment, but some of this is because
that is mostly who applies for jobs here. In theory, the opportunites
for advancement are there, but it used to just get held over your head
for a couple of years until you either give up on it or quit. It
happened that way to me and just about every other full-time employee
there. I understand it is supposed to make you strive to be the best
employee and work harder, but it backfired massively at my store.
HOWEVER, I loved my job. Lots of work and I took on quite a bit of
responsibility, looking for that promotion. I ended up leaving because
I was encouraged by a superior to apply for the promotion, and then it
was thrown in my face. An unqualified candidate was hired for the job,
and I was expected to train him for his new job (as my boss).
