GES will be around for a while but Chicago will have difficulty
competing due to Union issues. The expectations for Chicago will always
be extremely high and even when they win, the Mother ship will hover
over and rain on the parade. Employee Morale has taken a severe dive
since the Spring 04 ReOrg. Since HQ can never admit when they are wrong
going back and fixing these errors will absolutely never happen.
Although it will be interesting to see if Chicago meets or exceeds plan
as we finish up 04? (since Chicago made it in 2002 and 2003) (Hey but
if its not broke - Reorg it!)
If you have read all this and are really considering a position with GES
Please get additional counsel and seek therapy. (The Therapy will help
before you start there but will be needed once you are there)
4 Last thoughts
1. If the position you are applying for resides in Chicago but reports
to anyone in Las Vegas other than Paul Dykstra, Your life will most
likely be a mess.
2. If the position you are applying for reports to anyone named John or
run, don't look back, and keep running.
3. If the position you are applying for will have to daily interact
with the top person in the legal group. A daily root canal would be
more fun.
4. If you enjoy pain and misery than GES is the place for you.
