Test Engineer contract diversity, hours and dress code were better than most companies. Corporate culture was typical of a large company and the engineering groups at Corp 1 headquarters were aloof, unreliable and difficult to contact and work with. I was a test engineer and frequently got either no response from the corp. engineering groups and got the run around. Very, very few engineers in the groups were of any value to contribute to solving problems they created nor would they follow through on the simplest of requests for information. Regarding advancement, I was overlooked or ignored entirely by internal job requesters, not the HR people. It is my opinion that my supervisor at Corp III Test eng. was preventing me from moving up to a permanent position to keep me in his group as an economical alternative to not being able to hire people. I was directly overlooked for the Position of Wind Tunnel Test Engineer to operate the tunnel eventhough I was involved in nearly every aspect of the functionality of the tunnel including screens, honeycomb, Modeling, motors and pitch actuators, and writing the software to control the fans, pitch and data acquisition. I was not even interviewed even though I applied according to freightliner regs. I wanted and needed a full time position with Freightliner for better benefits.
