There are basically two rounds of interviews total. The first was an on-
campus
interview. An information session was given
the day before which I did find helpful. A case was given a week before
to complete. In the case, their looking for logical thought. Try to
think outside the boxes for your answers and options. The interview is
pretty straight forward. You basic behavioral interview. "When was a
time when you were faced with a problem?" "When have you displayed
leadership?" Lasted about 50 minutes. I heard back about 2 weeks later.
The second round, they fly you to Dearborn, MI for the Leadership
Conference. This is a two day affair that Ford fits the bill for. We
stayed in the very nice Hyatt Regency across from Ford HQ. On Thursday,
we took a tour of the F-150 plant. If your the least bit interested in
cars you'll find this fascinating. That night, there was an executive
speaker from Ford and then dinner was served. Basically whoever you
interview with in the first round meets your group for dinner. This is
a good time to learn more about the company, the position, and life in
SE Michigan.
Friday starts very early. Breakfast at 6:00am and leave for interviews
at 6:45am. There are three basic interviews throughout the day. The
first is another behavioral interview, the second is a discussion about
an addition to the previous case that was given before coming to
Dearborn, and the final is a team interview. In the team interview, you
are given a case with four options early in the day. You have 45
minutes to choose your option and your reasons. Later you have grouped
with 3-4 other candidates and are observed by two Ford employees. You
object is to work together to rank the four options. The key here is
not to have a big ego. State your opinion and reasons but be flexible
to change. The rest of the day is full of hour long information forums.
Your can talk to people who have been there for a short time and others
who have been there for years. There is also a benefits and Ford
marketing session. About 4:00pm you head back to the hotel. 5:15 you
have dinner with another Ford employee. Typically one who is high up in
the company. After dinner, you pick up an envelope that explains
whether or not Ford will be extending you an offer.
Overall, this was the most well-run interview conference I've been to.
They really have the schedule down pat and there are plenty of people
for you to ask questions. However, it is an EXTREMELY tiring ordeal.
Both physically and mentally. I found everyone to be very friendly and
welcoming. It left me with a very positive impression of the company.
If you do receive and offer, they express mail the actual salary and
package the following Monday. I will say I was surprised about how many
people did not receive offers. I would say at least half did not
receive offers. Also, there are other groups interviewing at the same
time besides finance. IT, sales and marketing, engineering, etc.
