They will tell you something like 10-15% bonus while hiring. That will
never happen unless you are above certain level. The average bonus of
year 1998, by rumor, is 4% on the average. At that number, senior
management reserves big chunk first before it flows to working bees.
Also, they require everyone above CCO level to make political donation
every year. It is mandatory. United Way is mandatory as well. It is your
money but your manager will talk to you if you don't donate. So, reserve
a couple hundred bucks from your grocery expense to cover company's
lobbying effort and big name of generosity even if your baby is crying
for diaper.
