Working at Fidelity Investments in the Health & Welfare division has
it's pro's and con's, as with any large organization. The corporate
culture is Fidelity first, family second. It is expected of one to work
long hours. A majority of associates average 50 to 60 hours a week.
Family life definitely suffers due to this. The dress code is business
casual. It can be noted that several associates are in violation of this
code by wearing flip-flop shoes, tight legging pants, cargo (weekend)
pants, etc. But nothing is ever done with these associates.
Opportunities for advancement are slim. Off shoring has started to
really become the norm for many positions with in the organization. It
has been noted that associates obtaining degrees do not get any
compensation adjustment, thus the alternative is to leave the
organization all together. This is unfortunate when Fidelity pays for
such an education.
