I saw a position advertised in the newspaper. I sent in a resume and
cover letter. Later, I heard they received over a hundred responses. I
had one day of interviews. I spoke to several sets of people that day.
Some were in the department with the position, some were in the
department the person in the position would be working closely with,
and some were with folks in HR. I really don't remember any unusual
questions. I do remember later that someone told me HR recommended I
not be hired because I admitted to wanting to leave my old job because
of "personality differences" or something like that. The person telling
me that was as incensed as I was hearing it. Just because I told HR I
had different values than my boss at the time didn't mean I ever told
him that or didn't perform my job well! Oh well, my new bosses hired me
anyway, and I'm still here, but that batch of HR folks is not. When I
was hired, they do a thorough background check, including fingerprints.
