First, I would like to make a correction. My beginning employment date
is 9/1967. The Bank is a very diverse organization. There are people
here of all nationalities. They offer flex hours, therefore, you're
able to set your own work schedule. This is very good for working
mothers. The dress code is lenient. Even though we don't have contact
with the public, we do have contact with dignitaries from other
countries and the government. Therefore, we must look our best at all
times without being stuffy. The Bank also offers educational
reimbursement. Employees are encouraged to further their educational
endeavors at the Bank's expense. There are also classes offered within
the Bank, i.e., Excel, Word, Graphics, etc. The Bank promotes
community involvement. The employees tutor students at a nearby middle
school, conduct classes at a neighboring YMCA, work with the Food Bank,
etc. This community involvement is open to the employees families.
There's also the retirement plan, thrift savings plan, financial
planning classes, etc., that are offered to employees. These things
are unlike any others that may be available in the corporate world.
This is a central bank and is, therefore, not subject to the rules
governing commercial banks. It's the overseer of the banking community-
-commercial banks, credit unions, and savings and loan associations--
therefore, it must set an example. The Bank is constantly looking at
corporate america to make sure that it's employees are receiving the
same perks, if not more.
It is a friendly atmosphere; success is encouraged and applauded;
teamwork is highly valued. The work itself is interesting and
challenging.
