This Company is one of the few to actually come out of an Asbestos
Chapter 11 re-organization. For all the monetary issues, our IT
department still looks like it will survive in place. No one does it
more economically than we do, so we aren't overly worried about out-
sourcing. There is always a possiblility, no matter where you work.
Morale is down in IT with the fear of outsourcing, but the rest of the
Company will make money this year. Many of our Information Technology
people are paid more than their job is worth now, but they took less
when the jobs were worth more five years ago. That was their choice to
take less and to stay on when the buying power declined. Across the
board in IT, it isn't wise to be looking for a raise for doing the same
job.
